Plenipotentiary for Work Deployment

The man responsible for the deployment of forced laborers in the German Reich during World War II was Fritz Sauckel, Gauleiter of Thuringia, who in 1942 was named "General Plenipotentiary for Work Deployment" (Generalbevollmächtigter für den Arbeitseinsatz, GBA). In 1946, in the Trial of the Major War Criminals in Nuremberg, he was sentenced to death and executed.
